Jason Guss, PGA Director of Golf Performance
I have been working at Treetops Resort for 14 years. In this time I have worked in each facet of the golf business. I started on the bag drop and then was the first assistant at the Jones Masterpiece. Now I am one of the lead instructors for the golf academy. In this time I have always struggled picking my favorite course. It has always swayed back and forth from the Rick Smith Tradition and the Jones Masterpiece. I believe I love the Jones Masterpiece so much for a couple of reasons. I love the elevation changes and the shear difficulty it can provide if you hit wayward shots. I also the love the fact that you have to have the ultimate game plan to score well. As well as, having the ability to swallow your ego and accept bogies.
The Tradition I love for other reason. It’s a great place to work on your golf swing and your game. It allows you to experience some level lies and some straight forward shots. The tradition has had some of the games greats play it as well. The course record is held by 2-Time US Open champion Lee Janzen. The junior course record is held by PGA Tour Star Hunter Mahan. The Tradition is the perfect compliment to all of our Treetops courses. Each one of our courses has a certain feel and the Tradition gives you exactly what the name states, a traditional links feel. |
