Henry Young, PGA Director of Instruction

          Henry brings a wealth of experience to the Rick Smith & Jason Guss Golf Academy. He has been a member of the PGA since 1971 and has headed up the Rick Smith Golf Academy since its inception in 1990. A graduate of Duke University, Henry is consistently ranked by various magazines as a "Top 10 Instructor in Michigan." Henry has been a recipient of the Michigan Section's Teacher of the Year award and is hands down one of the best pure golf instructors in America.

Jason Guss, PGA Director of Golf Performance

          Jason Guss is one of the brightest and most talented instructors anywhere. This is evidenced by his inclusion into Golf Digest's list of Americas Best Young Teachers. He has also twice been listed as one of the Top 20 Teachers under the age of 40 by the same publication. Guss was also one of 4 instructors to be selected by Golf Digest to film their first set of hour long instructional videos called The Golf Digest Clinic. Jason's innovative programs have allowed him to be selected by the Michigan Golf Course Owner's Association as the recipient of their Player Development award two out of the last three years. 

Gary Bissell, Academy Instructor/Club Fitter

          Gary Bissell brings a great deal of enthusiasm and passion to the Academy for the game he loves. This 4 year member of the Ferris State University Golf Team will provide the students of the Rick Smith & Jason Guss Golf Academy with valuable swing analysis, information on practice regimes, on course strategy and dealing with tournament situations and pressure. Gary is versed in the latest technology that the Academy offers it's students and will be on hand to deliver top notch club fitting and club repair service to all resort guests.
